         It occurs to me that The Smiths/Elliott Smith dueling tribute compilations may be too cute by half (or even more than that), but please don't let that deter from you listening to these compilations.  Even when the artists aren't doing anything particularly original, the affection for the material and the quality of the songs make for a worthwhile listen.
