Sweetheart cds

Sweetheart: Our Favorite Artists Sing Their Favorite Love Songs
Sweetheart: Love Songs     I was going to wax nostalgic about the days when Starbucks used to sell cds at their stores and even had their own record label Hear Music (not sure exactly how that worked, but I digress), but it's not like I regularly bought cds there.  Plus, the ways they marketed the cds placed an inordinate emphasis on lifestyle, imho.  However, I will forever defend their Sweetheart compilations - at least the two I have that are now out of print.

Aaah, Hear Music... good times. Don't remember where I used to get their CDs, it wasn't Starbucks, but they were unfailingly excellent.
Thank you, these look good.

@charles,

Quite welcome!

@anonymous,

As I mentioned above, I think the Hear Music cds got a lot of flak for their purported "lifestyle" emphasis. And there were surely some that fit into that category, but a lot of others were clearly curated by people who knew the particular genre(s) they were compiling while trying to keep them as accessible as possible. The sweetheart cds both have a few cuts I'm not crazy about, but the batting average on both is still high and there are some really great covers on each (the Neko Case and Ron Sexsmith cuts immediately come to mind)
