Mann Up: An Aimee Mann Collection

About a month ago, a friend of mine got us tickets to see Aimee Mann in January. I also just happened to listening to Lost in Space and Bachelor No. 2 (her two best albums, imo) back to back, so I thought it was time to put together an Aimee Mann compilation. In addition to single cuts from her formal releases (including two of her 'Til Tuesday albums, but not from her Christmas album) there's a bunch of stuff from soundtracks, tribute albums, etc.

Coming Up Close
Fifty Years After The Fair
Sign Of Love
Two of Us
Little Bombs
Phoenix
You're With Stupid Now
Jimmy Hoffa Jokes
Reason To Believe
Momentum
The Great Beyond
High On Sunday 51
Nightmare Girl
At The Edge Of The World
The Other End (Of The Telescope)
You Do

Looks like another good one. I have a couple of Aimee's albums but need to clear some room and had never gotten around to doing a compilation.
What I like most about your stuff is that you take the time to track down loose tracks; something I never have the patience for.

Thanks for the post; I'm a huge fan of hers. My wife and I went to see her a couple years ago, and I hate to admit it, but it was kind of...boring. She emphasized a lot of her recent day, downtempo stuff, and it got pretty draggy. She did take requests on little notes thrown into, and drawn out of, a hat. That was pretty fun. She played not a single Til Tuesday song, and any that were requested got tossed. If she comes to my area again I'll definitely go see her, but the first time was a letdown.

@anonymous,

That's too bad (especially since, like I said, I'm going to see her in January). I do like her downtempo stuff, but 90 minutes of only that would be a bit much. Hopefully, she's changed her playlist a bit.

Finally, the long-awaited (and several times requested ;-) ) Aimee Mann collection!

You know, due to the requests, I was considering titling it "For Kevin", but I thought it would be kind of awkward if that's what Aimee wanted to call her next album. :) Hope it lives up to the wait.

@foursteps,

I was hoping to give a nice historical overview of Aimee's work - hopefully, it shows off the breadth of her work. As for collecting the loose tracks, well,.... I do have a bit of an obsessive streak.:)

I really enojy Aimee Mann. Her interview on the Adam Carolla podcast today was really funny.

@anonymous,

If you haven't seen it yet, you might also want to check out her twitter "war" with Ice-T.
