Geez, I really don't what to say to introduce my collection of Lucinda Williams' obscurities, duets, tribute album contributions, etc (what can I say - it's been a long week). So how 'bout just enjoy it (with Volume 2 to follow next week) and let it serve as a reminder that her new album Blessed comes out on Tuesday, March 1.

Lucinda is just so wonderful! Thanks for compiling these. I look forward to Part 2 as well. Thanks so much!

Please let her singing be less affected this time around. It's getting bad. I thought it was just me but then I was listening to CAR WHEELS... the other day and it confirmed to me that I wasn't.
I'm a big fan but c'mon Lu the "look what the cat's drug in" vocals are going way too far these days.
Her stage craft has suffered too, she appears distracted and the use of a lyric book leaves much to be desired.

@Bostig and Miles,

Quite welcome. Nice to hear that you like the comps.

@Anonymous,

You know, I forgot to check that one out (and I already made Volume 2). So maybe a Volume 3 in 5-6 years. :)

@Maestro,

There are some recent tracks where I don't like Lu's vocalizing, but she's still got a real high batting average in my book. In particular, I think West is pretty underrated.

Thanks Ish For re-upping this one on Zippyshare.Now I'm back in "Lu Heaven"! Very kind of you.

@Lakercrazy,

No sweat. And as a Knicks fan, I'm feeling especially charitable to Lakers fans this year. :)

Hi again,

There is a comment that mentions there is a Zippyshare link. I can't seem to find it. All I keep getting is an invalid fileshare link. Been listening to part 2, it would be great to hear the first one. Lu and Shelby are great, as well as Neko. Also big fan of more traditional country like Pasty and Emmylou. Please help me find the Zippyshare link. Thanks!

Best,
El Miguel

She's always been one of my favorite singers - since I first heard her singing of and about the "Crescent City" I was aware of some of the songs you have on these compilations of hers but some are new to me and I'm waiting to give them a listen!
Coming from Philadelphia - the home of "The Intruders" - I'm waiting to hear
"Cowboys To Girls" because "I Remember..." hearing another version of this song at The Tin Angel - with Chris Gaffney joining Dave Alvin's Guilty Men singing the song.
Many thanks for sharing this music -

G,
Glad to do so! Lucinda hasn't been quite as busy lately, but for awhile, it seemed like she was on every other soundtrack, tribute album, etc.
