A King Sunny Ade's Ransom

         I don't really know why it took me so long, but I didn't become a King Sunny Ade fan until about 8 years ago when I bought Best of the Classic Years, a collection of material culled from his 1967-1974 recordings.  Once smitten, I, of course, couldn't believe that he had never become an international star, especially since there was a real push in the early 1980s - when he was with Island Records - to expand his audience.  As for tonight's mix, I tried to incorporate material from various stages of his career.  I also owe the website http://globalgroovers.blogspot.com/ thanks for posting several of his out of print albums.

Trying again...After keeping my eyes open for KSA download links for quite some time, I finally broke down and purchased Synchro System via iTunes this past weekend. I wasn't sure I would enjoy the music because when I first encountered it in 1985 or thereabouts, the music sounded too foreign to my ears- I wasn't ready for it. Now, it seems quite silly that I didn't enjoy it. Beautiful stuff- I look forward to hearing your collection.

@anonymous,

It took me a long time to get Synchro System as well. Alas, I would have loved to see him live during that era.
