3 Legends of Texas Country: James Hand, Justin Trevino, and Don Walser

     The annual South by Southwest music conference is fast approaching and even though it's been ten years since I attended one, I thought a little homage to Texas artists was in store for this week.  Don Walser passed away back in 2006, but Justin Trevino and James Hand are still going strong and I would hope they're both playing at SXSW this year (even if it's unofficial events).

Thanks very much for this. I have some of the James Hand and Don Walser tracks but hadn't heard of Mr Trevino. Thankyou for sharing.

hey friend, James Hand is playing the Austin Moose Lodge at 2103 E.M. Franklin Ave. on St. Patty's Saturday March 17, 2012 at 10:30. It's actually a big all day country event that starts early in the day! James is also recording a new album, due out soon on Hillgrass Bluebilly Records.

@Lynchie and Charles,

You're both quite welcome. And if you like the Justin Trevino cuts on the compilation, I'd recommend starting with his More Loud Music and Strong Wine release.

@Hillgrass,

Very glad to hear James Hand is playing during SXSW even if I'll be stuck in the n'east. And I'm gladder to hear about the forthcoming record!

Thanks man, I'm not too familiar with Justin Trevino, this should be a great intro. Great photo too, was it HDR?

@Jerry Lee

Trevino is a really solid honky tonk singer. I wish I'd gotten to see him when I used to to to SXSW because I don't think he tours much.
