Alright, you sucked me in. I'll download the Parker.

I agree that his later stuff is also good. I have four in a row from 1988's Mona Lisa's Sister to 1991's Struck By Lightning. I think of those as his singer/songwriter stage because they are mellower than the blues/r&b on the first two albums.

I don't remember if I ever saw Graham in concert. Saw Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson so it would be odd if I didn't complete the trifecta. He did a solo show in a small club not far from me about five years ago during his Cowboy phase. I didn't feel like leaving the house on the night of the show.

I understand the love for Parker but what's the deal on the Reese Witherspoon 'Election' picture?

@Don,
I haven't seen him in quite a while - gotta fix that.

As for the picture....I just thought the pix of Tracy Flick (the Reese Witherspoon character) was apt given the title of the compilation. (since Tracy Flick is such an obnoxious little go-getter who always gets started on her little projects so early.

This helped my Parker Karma! Graham's playing Buffalo, with Garland Jeffreys in a coupla weeks.

I've got the Rumour albums (except Howlin' Wind) and never got to see the man.

Thanks

@Ron,
Hope you enjoy the show (is he with a band or solo?

It's an acoustic duo show, with an opening act (S.B. Reeves)

The venue is a small theatre at the big concert hall (Kleinhans)

Maybe this'll be like a John Hiatt/Lyle Lovett show I saw, where they traded stories & songs.

I could envision Garland doing a slow version of "Don't Ask Me Questions".

BTW Elvis Costello's playing Buffalo, in June. $10 tickets outdoors.

@Ron,
I'm not familiar at all with Garland Jeffreys, but that does sound like a good setting for Graham

Garland Jefreys used to be famous in France some 25-30years ago("Take me to the matador"was on all the local radios).As for Graham,his first records were outstanding,sandwiched between Costello & Springsteen.

Thanks for the memories!

Antoine.

@Antoine,

That sorta makes sense - I don't think Garland Jeffreys had a big following here in the U.S.

Yes,seems to happen all the time!

For example,the New York Dolls or the Flamin' Groovies were mega stars in France ...
A guy of the Blue Oyster Cult was amazed by the fact the French considered Johnny Thunders as a legend!
